Here are the net sheds at the Stade in Hastings Old Town, the idea being when they were built that nets and ropes would last longer if they were hung up while being stored. Behind is a gravel beach with what is alleged to be Britian's biggest beach-launched fishing fleet. Walking among taut winching cables is probably not sensible. The Old Town is really rather charming with fantastic cottages all jumbled up on the steep sides of a valley. Never been before, but will certainly go again. Much of the rest of the town centre needs a wash and brush up. Ate: fillets of dab in a bread roll outside net sheds - fantastic; goat cheese tatin with pesto and tomato + fried gurnard with thyme and olives; Greek yogurt with prunes and honey + kipper and scrambled egg. Stayed
here. Wowser.
